Wasn't it about 4 years ago we had the option to have this done and connected to a new school, and with the options of a new wrestling room, swimming complex and state of the art science center, all in the school? Then we voted, and the majority of this district voted NO. granted, I voted YES, but that was then, before we were in a worldwide recession. recession, means tighten our belts, not piss our pants.

Wasn't it last year our city alderman set up a committee to research a swimming pool, that was altered to become a waterpark, which those selected few never even presented a report to the city. I do recall that swimming pool committee doing a mailing to the city residents asking a lot about a hockey arena and very little about a swimming pool. Gee, how ironic was that.

We cannot spend $250,000 on a swimming pool, but we are supposed to choke down $6.7 million on a skate complex because it might, might draw a few more tourists to town. Maybe before we jump on that bandwagon, we should travel up to Thief River Falls and ask them how their private funded complex does for tourism.

Wake up, we are in a recession, every dollar counts.

Did you ever think that we would live in a county where a child is prosecuted at whatever the cost for stupidity, and in the same county the prosecution dismissed 4 of 5 intentional tax fraud charges against an adult because ....

well, maybe we should all ask Hauser these questions when is electable employement comes up for vote.

before we get cute about how stupid this really is, stop and re-read the charges and the entire article. "domestic assualt" this implies the passenger was both a female and his girlfriend or spouse. Second, there is no reference by the Journal as to gender. Third, akmscott, he is an adult not a youth, and we can only hope our prosecutors do the job we expect of them.

Coffee, we live in one where people like Jamie Cooper think they can call themselves politicians because they have a computer, yet cannot tell the difference between satire and rhetoric.

When this silly movie debate calms down, the hospital no longer needs security guards, and when we can go swimming without the fear of hairy-man-cheeks, this quiet little city will still be here. Still content, and still asking itself the same questions. Change is good, ruts are better.

hometown, if law enforcement was called, I would have to say LRH found some potential threat. Enough of a threat that it created a story for the DJ. As for Doctors and confidentiality, that only applies to their patients and patient's file, and not everything related to them and their employment. So, once law enforcement became involved, it became public. And unfortunately as of late, Jamie Cooper is part of our public.

oh my... newshound you are so right we should do everything possible to cover up the truth so that the lawyers don't get involved. How pathetic. Maybe the paper should provide a better article so we don't have to read an ongoing blog of speculation.

ps., Jamie Cooper, that was one delightful suckup brownnosing you gave there. You just established a big piece of your political backbone.

love the dictionary recital here. glad to know we can read and type. you would all make great secretaries. But, I think Cooper is running for a different position. Can I take Josephine's comment a bit farther. This expansion project would/could go a bit better if the City had any desire to prosecute those above the poverty level. IF I recall correctly, there was a certain investment broker and his friend a certain attorney (who decided taxes were unconstitutional and refuses to pay them) stole a lot of the library's money and didn't pay it back or get charged with a crime. Go figure. And we are afraid of what the Chinese are going to do? I think we should be afraid of our neighbors. (before I get deleted/censored, all this can be found at the courthouse).

newshound, with comments like yours, you wonder why businesses close or refuse to come to town. You should be thankful to know we have locally owned and operated businesses which do support our own community. If that is too hard for you to sink your teeth into, consider the amount of gas you waste driving out to Wal Mart for your cereal and sardines.
