A vegetative buffer intended to improve the water quality at Lake Alice is now in place. Workers spent Thursday morning creating the 20-foot-wide buffer, which stretches along 180 feet of shore on the lake’s west side, near Orleans Street. Once the native grasses and prairie wildflowers have grown, their roots will act as a filter against runoff entering the lake, experts say.
