Those miserable feet

So after my run Thursday, I started having problems with my left calf and foot. I thought a massage and a couple of days off would do them some good before doing my 16-mile run on Sunday.

The day came (a miserable, wet, snowy one at that), and I got about 3 miles into the run, and my foot started feeling funny, and seemed to get worse. I have had foot problems every year, at about the time when I started to pour the mileage on. Not wanting to get to the eight-mile mark on the Central Lakes Trail unable to walk, I decided to cut my run short, and half-run, half-walk back home.

I was afraid this was going to happen. My feet seemingly can only handle so much running before they break down. I've tried orthotics and shoes, and actually, considering my schedule up to now, I've done pretty well.

Maybe my feet just can't handle the rigors of doing a marathon. I'm going to take a week off of running and see what happens. It's disappointing, but what can you do?

Joel, how in the world are you a "newsman." You sell ads, and you've turned the paper into a newsletter for the community. "Newsman" implies that you're a journalist, which is an insult to actual journalists.
