Effects of running starting to show

Two days after my record-long -- but painfully slow -- 15-miler, I decided Tuesday was the day to pick up the pace. I only did my scheduled 4.5 mile run, but I tried to get it done fast. I figure I did it in about 38 minutes -- an average of under 8:30 per mile, which is pretty fast for me. On my hilly route, I was huffing and puffing all the way.

After two grueling runs, I'm feeling a bit weak in the thighs. Someone at work asked me if I had a limp, and I said, "nope, just finished a run." I have another eight-miler scheduled on Thursday, and a 16-miler on Sunday. I guess it's better to beat myself up now than to keel over during the marathon. If it were easy, everyone would do it...
