Not just a river in Egypt

So last night, while buying my high fiber cereals and wide variety of fruits at the grocery store, I picked up a copy of the "Dieting for Dummies" booklet next to the tabloids.
What made me ache was the fact that, after going through all the tests, I determined that I was in denial, and that, not matter how you cut it, I need to lose weight.
For a long time, I thought the fact that I weigh a lot more than the BMI was just because I was big-boned. However, according to several measurements, no matter how you cut it, I need to lose weight.
And since exercise is already a part of my routine, the only way I would truly lose the 35 to 40 pounds I'd need to to get down to my ideal weight would be to cut back on how much I'm eating and drinking.
I don't know. Maybe I thought I could come up with a short cut or something that would allow me to lose weight without having to significantly sacrifice anything.
I was wrong. If I'm going to do this, I have do go all in. I'm counting calories, cutting back on portion sizes, and reducing my intake of alcohol, caffeine and salt.
I hope I get used to it soon.
