A milestone is reached

Over the past 25 years I have joined a good number of health clubs, each time starting out strong but fizzling out after a couple months. So why would this time be any different?
Looking back two months ago to my first day at Athletic Republic, I met up with Dr. Jerry Hendel and we talked about the Health Challenge I was entering into and as well as the Hoot Lake Triathalon which he has participated in the last several years. Little did I know that this conversaton planted a seed of things to come.
We are now eight weeks into the Health Challenge and I have noticed both physical and mental changes in myself. Physically, I am proud to say that I have been able to complete the majority of exercises that Natalie and Caroline have put me through. I also know that my endurance has improved as my "old" body is able to recover much more quickly. Emotionally, the urge or desire to quit early or not even show up (which was my downfall when exercising without a trainer) is not as strong. While I will admit I have grudgingly at times tried to get out of completing that 3rd repetition, the point is I've worked my way through it. To me that is success.
So where do I go from here? As I mentioned earlier, a seed was planted regarding the Hoot Lake Triathalon. I am planning to enter the triathalon as a first-time participant with no aspirations other than finishing the event. I am also looking to recruit others to join me (Natalie? Tom? Steve?). I will have three months or so to continue training and plan to do so at Athletic Republic. For those who know me, this is a milestone as exercise and me did not go hand-in-hand...who would have thought!
