The nationally recognized Concordia Band from Concordia College, Moorhead, announces its annual domestic tour Feb. 2-9. The band will perform a joint concert with the Fergus Falls High School wind ensemble, conducted by Scott Kummrow, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Kennedy Secondary School, 601 Randolph Ave. The concert is sponsored by the Fergus Falls High School Instrumental Music Department. Each winter the Concordia Band tours regionally in the United States and internationally every four years. The 2020 band tour also includes performances in Osage, Iowa; Mankato, Owatonna, Roseville, and Sartell.
The Concordia Band is a select group of 77 outstanding student musicians, each of whom studies privately with members of Concordia’s acclaimed music faculty. Membership represents a broad range of majors and disciplines from the campus. The ensemble has performed at state and national conventions, including the North Dakota Music Educators Association, Minnesota Music Educators Association, MENC: The National Association for Music Education, the Western International Band Clinic and the College Band Directors National Association.
Dr. Peter J. Haberman became the ninth conductor of the Concordia Band in 2012. Prior to his appointment at Concordia, Haberman held a similar position as director of bands at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
