Fiber art

Fiber art by Torri Hanna of Fergus Falls. Hanna and eight other artists are participating in the Lake Region Arts Council Consortium Exhibit at M State Fergus Falls.

The community is invited to enjoy the work of nine regional artists at the Lake Region Arts Council Consortium Exhibit from Jan. 6-Feb. 6 in the Charles Beck Gallery on the Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Participating artists include Jodi Peterson, Becky Albright, Sean Scott, Sharon Marquardt, Grace Clark, Mike Weatherly, Katherine McDowell, Torri Hanna and Inkpa Mani.

Artists are from the nine-county area served by the arts council and committed to a 10-month program where they participate in specialized workshops and receive support in website development, social media, grant writing and collaborative projects.

“One of the missions of the galleries at M State is to provide exhibition experience for emerging artists,” said Lori Charest, a ceramics instructor and curator of the college’s art collection. “When I heard of the LRAC Consortium, this seemed like a perfect group to ask to show at the college. There is a wide variety of work in different mediums and techniques. I think it will be a great collection of artwork. Some of the artists are more experienced, and some of them have never had an exhibit before.”

LRAC Consortium artist and violinist Bridget Guiza will perform during the artists' reception from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in Legacy Hall.

The Charles Beck Gallery is open during regular campus hours, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
