A major area theft ring has been busted resulting in the arrest of three individuals with more arrests anticipated.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, in a release on May 11, said that in a joint investigation with Fergus Falls police involving multiple burglaries and thefts from garages and vehicles from the end of April through early May in the city limits and rural Fergus Falls, Swan Lake and Wall Lake areas that were hit.
According to the sheriff's office, the Swan and Wall Lake areas confirmed 20 thefts, and burglaries. In Fergus Falls there were eight confirmed thefts, burglaries and there were attempted burglaries in all of the areas reported.
Those arrested so far include Jackson Rieppel, 19, Jeremiah Nordby, 18, and a 17 year old juvenile all of Fergus Falls.
According to Otter Tail County District Court Records, Rieppel has been charged with two counts of felony level third degree burglary and misdemeanor count of theft. He is being held on $5,000 non-cash bond with conditions or $500 cash bail with conditions and made his first court appearance on May 5, with his next hearing scheduled for May 15.
Nordby is still completing the booking process and has not been scheduled for a court appearance.
