Caring for young children is not easy. When parents leave, the babysitter is responsible for keeping the kids or their siblings safe, fed and entertained. Fergus Falls Community Education will host BLAST, babysitter lesson and safety training, at the Roosevelt Education Center, Community Education, 340 Friberg Ave., Fergus Falls.
This class is for students 11 years of age and older. In this class, you’ll learn how to supervise children and infants, perform basic childcare skills, such as diapering and feeding, choose safe, age-appropriate games and toys, handle bedtime and discipline issues, identify safety hazards and prevent injuries, and care of common injuries and emergencies such as choking, burns, cuts and bee stings. Students will also learn how to communicate effectively with parents, as well as find and interview for babysitting jobs. Bring a sack lunch. There is a fee.
