In October, donations were presented to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Twin Cities, from the Birak Shrine Club in Fergus Falls. A check in the amount of $5,500 was a combination of money from the club account, Shrine Circus account and Kar Kor account.
The Kar Kor — think “car corps” — are the small cars that race around parades through the summer.
A second check in the amount of $2,500 was presented from the Kar Kor account, funds collected from the many parades. This money was designated to help in the purchase of an EOS machine at the hospital. The electro-optical-sensor machine produces high-quality images using significantly less radiation than a standard X-ray — up to nine times less. The lower radiation is particularly important for children with spinal cord abnormalities who will be monitored throughout their lifetimes.
