Forty years after the first McDonald’s restaurant opened in Fergus Falls a new home for the Golden Arches is set to open.

Jason and Kristi Hastings were looking to fill a downtown storefront when the idea for a pop-up retail boutique came to mind. They considered it an opportunity to teach their teenage children about entrepreneurship and take advantage of the renewed interest downtown storefronts.

The Otto Bremer Trust has awarded $12,855,616 in grants and program-related investments as part of its most recent grantmaking cycle. Three Fergus Falls-based businesses — Claire Ann Shover Nursery School, Lakeland Mental Health Center and Someplace Safe — received grants.

Minnesota Business Finance Corporation (MBFC) recently awarded a grant to Greater Fergus Falls Corp. MBFC is the only certified development company in Minnesota to present this type of grant program.
