On Sept. 22, at the Unitarian Church of Underwood, Lindsey Peck Scherloum will talk about her project, “The Color of Strength,” which focuses on a community of Somali Bantu refugees in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Scherloum is a multidisciplinary artist whose social engagement practice has landed her in relationships with diverse communities and tackling hard topics like human migration and climate change. From her experience with making “The Color of Strength,” and other collaborative works, she will be able to offer touch points for reflecting on our own biases about cultural expression and tolerance. Her talk is titled “We Tell Time by the Sun and the Moon: Humbled by the Ethnosphere.”
The service begins at 10 a.m. A children’s class is offered during the service. All are welcome.
