The Fergus Falls Downtown Riverfront Council (“FFDRC”) is pleased to announce that planning is underway for the third annual Over the River Holiday Festival set for Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019. The FFDRC, along with several individuals and organizations, including the city of Fergus Falls, Kaddatz Galleries, Springboard for the Arts, A Center for the Arts and several businesses have come together to plan another spectacular holiday event. Joining the ranks this year is Otter Cove, Outstate Brewing and Fergus Brewing Co. to round out activities for all ages, as well as the Art & Artisan Holiday Market that relocated to Lincoln Center.
Retailers are encouraged to host events and sales to kickstart the holiday shopping season, horse-drawn carriage rides and the annual art crawl will begin at 12 p.m. with adult and children’s activities starting around 2 p.m. A lineup of musical performances, selfies with Santa and other activities will take place in and around City Hall. The event will culminate with the tree lighting and fireworks display at Wright Park at 6 p.m.
Mayor Ben Schierer says, “This is one of my favorite nights of the year, when our community comes together to sing and share fellowship with their neighbors as we celebrate the season together.”
Over the River Holiday Festival is completely funded by local sponsorships and donations. Businesses and individuals, large and small, have pledged donations to this spirited community event. The city of Fergus Falls, LB Homes, Lake Region Healthcare, Vector Windows, Re/Max Signature Properties, Pemberton Law, and Rohde Insurance Services are just a few of the businesses who have committed to this event. Sponsorships and volunteer opportunities are still available. If your service group or business would like to host a s’mores or hot chocolate station or an outdoor activity, the event is open to all.
