Sundeen sentenced: Norgaard plea results in 60 days detention

Derrick Alan Sundeen, 39, of Dalton appeared on June 24 in Otter Tail County District Court for sentencing. He was originally charged with six separate charges, including 1st-degree attempted murder in an amended criminal complaint dated Jan. 7, of this year.

Sundeen was sentenced to 60 days in the Otter Tail County Detention Center with credit for time of 4 days, along with 7 years of supervised probation.

In the plea agreement, Sundeen pleaded guilty to count three and six, 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and 4th-degree DWI, with the remaining four original counts dismissed.

Sundeen entered a Norgaard Plea, which means that he is claiming a loss of memory regarding the circumstances of his offenses.
