A short meeting of the Fergus Falls Port Authority (FFPA) Monday afternoon at City Hall saw members reject an offer to purchase the former Norgren properties.
A farmer who farms land adjacent to the Norgren piece, turned in the only bid to buy the properties from the city. His Nov. 7 offer of $1,950 was rejected by a unanimous vote of those present. The FFPA’s lease with the farmer currently leasing the land runs through 2020 and he has already expressed an interest in continuing to lease the property if it is not sold.
The FFPA commissioners approved a proposal to enter into a purchase agreement with the city of Fergus Falls for the former Mid-Am Dairy property. The FFPA, which purchased the property in 2018, has a responsibility to carry out demolition and cleanup work on the 11.4 acres it will be selling to the city. The work is expected to begin this winter.
