Holiday fun

Holiday fun:  Several events will be happening in the Fergus Falls area post-Thanksgiving including a holiday party at YMCA and a Junk Love Holiday Show at the armory.

Don’t let Thanksgiving and Black Friday burn you out — there’s still so much to do! Fergus Falls has plenty of events to keep you on your feet this weekend including kid-friendly holiday parties, holiday markets and special deals to get your gift shopping done early and reward opportunities from the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce for shopping locally. Don’t spend all your money in one place this winter!

1. This Sunday, Dec. 1 Otter Cove Children’s Museum is hosting a holiday party at the Fergus Falls YMCA from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be holiday-themed snacks, crafts, games, table activities, photo props and a holiday reindeer movie. The Otter Cove Holiday Party is a great family-friendly way to celebrate the start of the holidays and a free will donation will be collected for admission.

2. On Saturday, Nov. 30, MiMi Rae’s is hosting “Junk Love Holiday Show 2019” at the armory in Fergus Falls from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be more than 30 vendors offering arts and crafts, clothes, home decor and more including MiMi Rae’s, The Dappled Fox, Grandma Myrtles, The Grey Harp, Rustic Lilly, Braun Metal Works, Patricia Ann Artist and others (the full list is available on MiMi Rae’s Facebook page). 3. Celebrate “Small Business Saturday” by shopping at small businesses in the area. Victor Lundeen Company is hosting an after Thanksgiving sale /Small Business Saturday event on Friday and Saturday with 15% off regular priced items (some exclusions apply) and receive a free tote bag with qualifying purchase of $50 or more. The Market will have a “Plaid Friday” event that carries over into Saturday, so email subscribers will have received a coupon in their email and then both subscribers and nonsubscribers can wear plaid to receive another coupon in store. There will also be drawings for a gift basket and gift cards. The Flower Mill will have some sales going on, as well as serving cider and cookies and having their poinsettias in for the holidays.

The Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 2019 Shop, Drop ‘n Win drawing where participants can win $500 in Fergus Bucks. Shop at one of 350-plus stores in Fergus Falls that are Chamber members from Wednesday, Nov. 27, through Monday, Dec. 16, and bring your receipts to the Chamber of Commerce to receive an entry into the drawing for each purchase, with extra entries for “Small Business Saturday” purchases on Nov. 30 and Over the River Holiday Festival purchases on Dec. 7.
