The West Otter Tail County Fair is back in Fergus Falls this week. The annual fair is sure to excite those that attend and with several things still left to enjoy, it is hard to not find something that will bring you amusement.
Tonight, the fair will go to the kids as it celebrates Youth Day. This is a time to purchase those ride wristbands to allow the kids to go crazy on the fairgrounds.
But while the kids are enjoying the rides, there are several other aspects of the parade to enjoy. At 5 p.m. on the outdoor stage the Carlisle Band will perform. The group is well known in and around Otter Tail County and should provide a great musical experience. If you are looking for something a little more exciting, head to the grandstand to enjoy extreme bull riders at 7 p.m. This adrenaline-fueled event will definitely get fans out of their seats.
With all of that, don’t forget to try some of the amazing fair food. If you aren’t stopping at the shake shack, you might want to grab a foot-long corn dog. If you are looking for something sweet, there are always minidonuts to enjoy.
Saturday represents the final day of the fair. The event coordinators will recognize veterans during the day giving free gate admission to veterans with military ID.
Musician Sherwin Linton will occupy the outdoor stage performing folk, country and other musical genres starting at 2 p.m. There will also be a jigsaw puzzle contest (1 p.m.), rooster crowing contest (3 p.m.) 4-H Barnyard Olympics (4:30 p.m.) and the 4-H tug-o-war (5 p.m.).
To close out the evening, the annual demolition derby starts at 6:30 p.m. This event is highly anticipated and usually brings out a large crowd to hear the roars, cheers, smashes and horns.
So if you are looking for something fun and close by, head out to the fair and enjoy. These type of events are what make communities great, so don’t miss it.
