October marks the 76th annual observation of National Disability Employment Awareness Month and Sen. Torrey Westrom (R-Elbow Lake) released the following statement to create awareness for disability employment:

“Every Minnesotan should have an opportunity to earn a living regardless of their disability,” said Westrom. “As someone who lost my eyesight in a farm-related accident over 30 years ago, I know firsthand some of the difficulties Minnesotans with disabilities can face. Employers should not overlook the great contributions people with disabilities can and have made in the workforce. I have been and will continue to be an advocate to help expand employment opportunities for all persons with disabilities.  I’ll continue to work with my Senate colleagues to help create awareness and improve the lives of people with disabilities.”
