The Fergus Falls 12U B girls’ hockey team kicked off their 2019-20  hockey season traveling to Grand Forks for an invitational tournament. Twelve teams from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Canada  showed up to compete in the three-day competition.

The local planning committee for the 2020 Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener is adding new ways for folks to celebrate the occasion in 2020. This year will be the 73rd annual event and while the main goal is to continue the storied tradition there will be a few differences from years past.

The Fergus Falls wrestling team welcomed in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton for a dual Thursday. The Rebels would take advantage of early wins to cruise to a 60-18 victory over the Otters.

ASHBY — The Ashby boys’ basketball used a first half lead to soar past the visiting Rothsay Tigers 70-45 in Little Eight Conference action Thursday.

HENNING — The Henning boys’ basketball team had a strong night putting triple figures on the visiting Sebeka Trojans 107-44 Thursday.

BATTLE LAKE — The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team welcome in Little Eight Conference foe Parkers Prairie for its home opener Thursday. The Panthers would not be easy guests as they took a 69-40 conference win.

ROTHSAY — The Rothsay girls’ basketball team struggled to find its rhythm in the second half as the visiting Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines took home a 59-49 win Thursday.

BARRETT — The WCA Knights came out on top of a battle with the Hancock Owls in Barrett on Thursday night 53-43. The Knights outscored the Owls 35-24 in the second half after the Owls led 19-18 at the half.

UNDERWOOD — The hosting Underwood boys’ basketball team could not keep pace with Little Eight Conference rival Brandon-Evansville Thursday as the Chargers claimed a 52-39 win.



PELICAN RAPIDS — The Pelican Rapids girls’ basketball team cruised to a 53-29 victory over Heart O’Lakes Conference foe East Grand Forks Green Wave Thursday.

The Fergus Falls gymnastics team hosted Central Lakes Conference foe Willmar Thursday as the Roosevelt Gymnasium. In a close match, the visiting Cardinals would claim a 130.6-124.45 victory over the Otters.

WILLMAR — The Fergus Falls boys’ swimming and diving team competed against a tough Willmar Cardinals team as the Otters’ host captured a 111-66 Central Lakes Conference win Thursday.

PILLAGER — The Henning boys’ basketball team overcame a slow start to rattle off 40 second-half points on the way to a 63-41 Park Region Conference victory over Pillager Tuesday.

ROTHSAY — The Rothsay girls’ basketball team picked up its first win of the season as the Tigers defeated Little Eight Conference rival Ashby 62-36 Tuesday.

PELICAN RAPIDS — The Pelican Rapids wrestling team ran into tough competition Tuesday as they hosted Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and Frazee.

Minnesota High School Bowling team competition has wrapped up for 2019  with the all-conference/future stars and state tournaments held over the past two weekends. 

It was a perfect night to go bowling on Friday, Dec. 6 at Northern Aire Lanes; for Jamie Johnson at least. The right-hander rolled the first 300 game at the lanes of the 2019-20 season.
