Holding a lead at halftime Friday, the Hillcrest boys’ basketball team looked to do what so many others couldn’t. But the visiting Ashby Arrows got into a rhythm and rallied to upend the hosting Comets 55-47.

The Comets played a strong first half as they went into the break up 30-23. The Arrows rediscovered their offense in the second half and outscored the Comets 32-17 to pick up the win.

“We executed our game plan beautifully in the first half tonight - did all the things we intended to do,” Comets head coach Ryan Garvin said. “After a bit of a tepid start in the second half, we got a series of six stops in a row that really could have given us momentum. Unfortunately, we ended with double-digit turnovers in the second half and never could put a string of stops together again. After being up 44-40 with 6 minutes left, Ashby made some big plays, hit some big shots and we just didn’t recover.”

The Arrows were led in scoring by Jaden Norby with 17 points. Teammates Torin Olson (15) and Jacob Cook (14) were also in double figures. Norby and Cook also led Ashby in rebounding with nine boards apiece.

Caden Fischer (11) and Micah Foss (10) led the Comets in scoring.

The Comets will look to get back in the win column as they host Brandon-Evansville Monday at 7:15 p.m. The Arrows will welcome in the Battle Lake Battlers for a 7:15 p.m. game Monday.
