ORTONVILLE — Several area golf teams competed in Ortonville Monday with the West Central Area boys’ and Otter Tail Central (OTC) girls’ teams taking the meet.
ELBOW LAKE — The West Central Area golf teams hosted Otter Tail Central, Hillcrest, Underwood, Ashby, Rothsay, Pillager and Border West in a home meet Thursday. The Knight boys would come away with a team victory, while the OTC girls’ team captured the girls team title.

FOLEY — In the Class AA state preliminary round, Fergus Falls wrestler Kaden Hartwell (182 pounds) notched his 151st victory and advanced to the state semifinals at St. Michael-Albertville.
ASHBY — Taking on the 19-0 Ashby boys’ basketball team in the Section 6A playoffs seemed like a tall feat for the visiting West Central Area Knights. But a strong shooting night and even stronger defense, the Knights upset the No. 2 (Class A) Arrows 61-38 Saturday.
ASHBY —The Ashby boys’ basketball team remained undefeated Thursday as the Arrows defeated the Brandon-Evansville Chargers 46-22 in the Section 6A playoffs.
The Ashby boys’ basketball team finished the 2021 season with a perfect 12-0 record in Little Eight Conference play as the Arrows defeated the Parkers Prairie Panthers 69-43 Thursday.
ASHBY — The Ashby boys’ basketball team claimed the Little Eight Conference title Monday as the Arrows defeated LEC rival Brandon-Evansville 49-31.

BATTLE LAKE — The visiting Ashby boys’ basketball team made quick work of the hosting Battle Lake Battlers Friday as the Arrows picked up their sixth consecutive win with a 79-44 Little Eight Conference victory.
GROVE CITY — The West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville wresting team fell for the first time this season as they dropped a dual against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 45-24 and to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 43-25 Thursday.
ASHBY — Forcing 28 turnovers, the Hillcrest girls’ basketball team left the court Thursday with a Little Eight Conference road win 46-41 over the Ashby Arrows.
The Ashby boys’ basketball team is excited to get back on the court after finishing the 2019-20 season with a 19-9 record. The Arrows return most of their team from last season and are ready to climb to the top of the Little Eight Conference.
The West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville wrestling team finished last season with a 19-6 record and sent five wrestlers to the Class A state individual tournament. This year, the team returns a strong nucleus of wrestlers as they pursue Park Region Conference and Section 6A titles.
The Midwest Blue Subdistrict gave out its annual football awards recently as several members of West Central Area/Ashby and Otter Tail Central were recognized.
The Little Eight Conference recently announced its conference volleyball awards. Brandon-Evansville went undefeated (6-0) in conference play and won the LEC title. The Chargers’ Bailey Schaefer was named conference MVP and head coach Kelly Olson received Coach of the Year honors.
Although it hasn’t been a typical winter season, the Ashby girls’ basketball team is looking forward to getting back on the court as the Arrows plan to make a big jump in the Little Eight Conference and Section 6A in the 2020-21 season.
BATTLE LAKE — The West Central Area/Ashby football team shook the rust off after falling behind 18-0 in the first half of its 2020 opening game against Otter Tail Central to rally and win 30-18 Saturday.
The M State women’s basketball team added two more recruits for the 2020-21 season as Ashby senior Kalista Aamot and Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg graduate Maddy Rohner have decided to play basketball for the Spartans.
The Minnesota State High School League recently announced its all-state girls’ basketball team and those that received all-state academic honors.
