Finding an open: Underwood’s Krosby Aasness looks to cross over an Ashby defender in a Little Eight Conference matchup Friday night.

UNDERWOOD — In a battle of Little Eight Conference foes, the visiting Ashby boys’ basketball team got the best of the hosting Underwood Rockets as the Arrows claimed a 77-38 victory.

The Arrows jumped out to an early 9-0 lead and maintained control of the first half as they went into the break up 38-19.

The second half as nearly a mirror image of the first as Ashby outscored Underwood 39-19.

“We came out flat tonight on the defensive end and that dug us a big hole early that we couldn’t get out of,” Rockets head coach Evan Meece said. “Our defensive intensity wasn’t where it needed to be and Ashby took advantage and shot very well from the field.”

Ashby saw three players with 15 points: Noah Johnson, Scott Johnson and Jaden Norby, while Christian Norby added 14 tallies and Dakota Ecker flipped in 10 points.

The Rockets were led in scoring by Canaan Kugler with 12 points.

The Rockets will look to get back in the win column as they host the West Central Area Knights for Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Arrows will continue their road trip as they take on Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
