Flip of the wrist: Ashby pitcher Miles Hoff flips the ball to the first baseman after a grounder in the first game of Friday’s game against Hillcrest.

ASHBY —The hosting Ashby baseball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep over the Hillcrest Comets Friday.

In Game 1, the Arrows saw Jaden Norby and Miles Hoff pitch a combined no-hitter to claim a 26-0 victory.

Noah Johnson had a strong game from the plate for Ashby going 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs. The Arrows scattered 25 hits in the game with Carter  Spangler, Dakota Ecker, Johnson, Hunter Norby, Jaden Norby, Hoff, Isaac Auftenkamp, and Ashton Ecker each racked up multiple hits for Ashby Arrows.

Trevor Antona took the loss for Hillcrest surrendering 17 runs on 20 hits over 3 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking one. James Cho started the game for Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. He surrendered nine runs on five hits over a third of an inning

In the second game, the Arrows claimed a 15-1 win using a 10-run second inning to seal the deal.

Scott Johnson led the Ashby at the plate in Game 2 as he hit a home run in the first and second inning, knocking in a total of four runs.

Carson Spangler led the Ashby Arrows to victory on the mound. He surrendered one run on two hits over two innings, striking out two.  Johnson threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

“Our bats were hot tonight up and down the line up,” Arrows head coach Jared Larson said. “We took the ball the other way and everyone squared the ball up.  It was nice to see some of our JV guys get some time and have success at the plate as well.”

The Arrows will welcome in Brandon-Evansville for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Comets will look to get into the win column as they travel to Ortonville for a 3 p.m. doubleheader Friday, May 3.
