The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team picked up its first win of the season as it topped Little Eight Conference foe Ashby 65-52 Thursday.
“This was a great team win for us,” Comets head coach Hannah Clark said. “We shot the ball well and limited our turnovers. There was a point in the second half when Ashby started to make a run, but the girls dug deep and found a way to stop Ashby’s momentum and never looked back.”
Mackenzie and Olivia Foss each scored 22 points in the game for the Comets, while teammate Cassy Twedt just missed out on a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds and scoring nine points.
“Mackenzie Foss and Olivia Foss both had great all-around games and I thought they controlled the floor on both ends.
Cassy Twedt provided a huge spark off the bench coming up just short of a double-double. Audra Ewan has a great night shooting,” Clark said.
The Comets will have a bit of a break before heading back on the court for a 7:15 p.m. tilt against in Underwood against the Rockets on Friday, Dec. 14.
