BARRETT — The West Central Area/Ashby Knights cruised to a 42-6 victory over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in the Section 6AA playoffs Tuesday.
The Knights got on the board midway through the first quarter as quarterback Jaden Norby ran the ball in from 4 yards out. Norby would convert the 2-point play to take an 8-0 lead. West Central Area exploded in the second quarter as they scored three touchdowns. The first came on a 7-yard run by Norby six seconds into the quarter. Over three minutes later, Anthony Sykora found the crease and ran for a 28-yard touchdown. A failed point after put the score at 20-0. Norby would score on defense as he picked off Thunder quarterback Brady Cline and took it to the house. Norby rushed in the 2-pointer to take a 28-0 lead into the half.
The Knights would score twice more in the game as Norby scored his fourth touchdown on a 3-yard run in the third and Jordan Lohse would record a Pick 6 on another Cline pass to hold a 42-0 lead. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle did not get shut out as Gabe Pesta ran into the endzone from five yards out.
The Knights recorded 344 yards rushing with Sykora (109) and Lohse (104) leading the way. Norby led the Knights in tackles with 6 1/2.
The Knights will now travel to take on the Osakis Silverstreaks at 2 p.m. Saturday.
