Henning guard Tyson Misegades had a strong week, leading his team to the section championship game versus Border West. In three games last week, he scored 49 points, including 24 against Hillcrest (on Mar. 13).Â
Mike Short hit a pair of home runs on Mar. 13, in a 13-11 win over Prairie State College. He went 2-4 with three RBIs in the game. The Spartans wrapped up their spring trip to Florida on Mar. 14.Â
Kallyn Grove had 17 points and helped the Underwood Rockets defeat the Hancock Owls, 64-50, in the Section 6A title game. The Rockets will face off against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in quarterfinal action of the Class A State Tournament, on Mar. 16.

Otters Rylynn Krein puts a back hand shot into the net during consolation semifinal action against Albert Lea, at the 2023 Class A Girls Hockey State Tournament. It was the first goal of the season for Krein, who helped the Otters to a 4-1 win over the Tigers.Â
Otters Maggie Greenagel had quite the week. She scored her first varsity goal, in section semifinal action against Breck/Wahp. Then she tallied the game winning overtime goal in the section championship game, to send Fergus Falls to the girls Class A State Tournament.Â
Battle Lake freshman Bradyn Roisum has been a steady players off the bench all season long for the Battlers. He has helped his team to a 19-4 overall record, with just a few games left in the regular season.Â
Senior Delvin Roberts (182-lbs class) picked up a pin during senior night at the Roosevelt Gym, on Feb. 9. He and his team prepare for section team duals this week.Â
M State's Lindsey Kurz led the Lady Spartans with 14 points and eight rebounds against Rochester, on Feb. 11. Through 21 games this season, she is averaging 11.9 points per game and seven rebounds, while shooting 45.6% from the field.Â
Hannah Johnson, a freshman, has been a key part of the Fergus Falls Otters girls hockey team this season. She has helped Fergus to the No. 1 seed in the Section 6A playoffs. They have a bye in first round action.
Caleb Fronning, top of the podium, became the first Otter to win a state title at the Minnesota Ninth Grade and Under Wrestling Championships. He did so at the 132-lbs class this past weekend.Â
Otters sophomore, Henry Bethel, has been posting double digits points in all of the Fergus boys games since the turn of the calendar. He has been a steady player on the offense side, as the Otters battle through the tough Central Lakes Conference.Â
Tyra Skjeret has been a key part of the top line for the Otters this season and the success that Fergus has had. Whether it is at full strength or on the man advantage, Skjeret usually has the puck near her stick.Â
Hillcrest Comets Noah Brumfield, pictured with family, had a monster week, pouring in 122 points in three games. The cherry on top was scoring a school record 46 points, on Jan. 17. He set the mark one point more than his brother, Sam, did last season.Â
Lady Spartans Emily Dehler look to pass the ball against Saint Cloud last week. She has been a double-double machine this season and is averaging 15.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. The sophomore hails from Pierz.Â
Otters Estee VerSteeg placed fourth at the Detroit Lakes invite, on Jan. 12. He finished helped the Fergus girls to a fifth place finish as a team. VerSteeg and the Otters hope to continue to cut times as the season progresses.Â
Jack Mekalson, on the ball defending for Battle Lake, had a fantastic week. He scored 20 points in a win over Ashby and followed that up with 35 points against Parkers Prairie. He has helped the Battlers to an 8-3 record on the season.Â
Lady Spartans Keely Foley has provided a spark for M State so far this season. She is averaging 6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, she also leads the team in three point percentage at 33%. M State is back in action on the 11th of the month, traveling to take on Minnesota West.Â
M State's Yonis Mohamud is averaging 13.5 points per game and 4.7 rebounds, helping the Spartans to an 8-6 record on the season. Mohamud and the Spartans return to action on Jan. 11, at Minnesota West.Â
Brady Metcalf stopped 22 shots in a wild 7-3 victory over Fort Francis, at the Otter Classic. Giving senior net-minder Ben Swanson a breather, Metcalf was on point.Â
Lexi Metcalf stopped all but one shot in a 5-1 victory over Bemidji, at the Armstrong-Cooper holiday tournament this past weekend. Metcalf has shined in net when called upon this season.Â
Fergus Falls's Olivia Budke crosses the finish line at the home meet earlier this month. Early season meets were pushed back due to lack of snow, but that isn't the case anymore. Budke and the Otters are set to return to action on Dec. 28, at Brainerd.Â
