BATTLE LAKE — The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team opened its season on a positive note as the Battlers upended Little Eight Conference foe Brandon-Evansville 61-50 Thursday.

The Little Eight Conference recently announced its conference volleyball awards. Brandon-Evansville went undefeated (6-0) in conference play and won the LEC title. The Chargers’ Bailey Schaefer was named conference MVP and head coach Kelly Olson received Coach of the Year honors.

BATTLE LAKE — The Pelican Rapids volleyball team set voyage to take on the Battle Lake Battlers in its first nonconference match of the season Monday. After falling in the first set, the Vikings rebounded winning three straight sets to claim a 23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-15.

HENNING — A strong ground performance by the Otter Tail Central football team Wednesday saw two running backs rush for over 100 yards and the home team pick up a 30-19 victory over the Hawley Nuggets.

UNDERWOOD — The Underwood volleyball team claimed its first win of the season as it upended Little Eight Conference foe Battle Lake in three sets (25-18, 28-26, 25-21) Monday.

BATTLE LAKE — The Bulldogs would score first as quarterback Tanner Arndt took off for a 65-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Arndt would take in the two-point conversion to put OTC up 8-0.

ST. PAUL — The culmination of the Minnesota high school individual wrestling season began Friday at the Xcel Energy Center as several area wrestlers hit the mat for the state individual wrestling tournament.

BERTHA —The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team closed out its regular season Thursday with a 74-37 victory over the Bertha-Hewitt Bears.

GRACEVILLE — The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team took home at 78-42 victory Tuesday as the Battlers topped Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.

The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team welcome in Little Eight Conference rival Battle Lake Friday night. As the game winded down, the visiting Battlers would exit the gymnasium with a 42-28 victory over the Comets.
