PERHAM — Several area cross country teams hit the course at Arvig Park to compete in the Perham Invitational Thursday.
In the girls’ meet, Lakeville South would take top honors with a score of 83. Perham (90) would take second followed by Fargo North (107). Fergus Falls (284) took ninth, Pelican Rapids (350) 13th and Otter Tail Central (432) 16th.
Leading the way for the Fergus Falls girls was Emily Nuss (19:38.3) with a 14th-place finish. Karolyn Papon (52nd, 21:05.2), Ainsley Hansen (54th, 21:17.5), Ellia Soydara (84th, 22:19.0) and Sierra Hatlewick (100th, 22:45.1) rounded out the team scoring, while Rebecca Schindler (107th, 22:55) and MaKenna Stenstrom (119th, 23:24.5) also competed.
“Our girls had an excellent showing at tonight’s meet, placing 9 in a field of 19,” Otter girls’ coach Niki Welde said. “Emily Nuss medaled for the Otter girls tonight. Emily, Karolyn Papon, Ainsley Hansen, and Ellia Soydara, and Becca Schindler all had 45 second or better drops. Makenna Stenstrom and Sierra Hatlewick both had excellent times and raced hard against their competition. This is a flat, hard, fast course. The girls came into this with great attitudes and some fire.”
For Pelican Rapids, Abby Syverson (27th, 20:18.2) led the Vikings at the meet. Scoring for the team were Maddie Guler (68th, 21:53.9), Ellie Johnson (69th, 21:56.2), Olivia Kleinschmidt (103rd, 22:51.9) and Lily Williams (111th, 22:59.7), while Rachael Guler (122nd, 23:36.3) also competed
OTC’s Laney Frost (21:29.5) finished 61st, while Katie George (83rd, 22:17.5), Allyson Goodman (91st, 22:30.9), Raeanne Frost (109th, 22:57)and Kyleigh Shebeck (123rd, 23:40.7) added to the team score. Elizabeth Radermacher (134th, 26:47.4) also competed for the Bulldogs.
On the boys’ side, Perham won the meet with a team score of 40. Bemidji (66) and Fargo North (88) placed in the top three. Fergus Falls (488) finished in 18th, Otter Tail Central (509) in 21st and Pelican Rapids (691) in 24th.
Joe Eberle led the Otters with a time of 18:01.8 for a 76th-place finish. Teammate Luke Schroeder (77th, 18:03.1) was right behind him, while Conrad Lobb (103rd, 18:40.5), Kolsen Papon (104th, 18:41.2) and Zach Lobb (147th, 20:04.3) rounded out the team score.
The Bulldog boys were led by Cody Dolezal (60th, 17:42.7), with Isaac Scherfenberg (65th, 17:47.2), Joseph Froslee (114th, 19:00.2), Jacob Hite (138th, 19:44.8) and Noah Mansker (143rd, 19:58.5) filling out the team scoring. Thomas Himmelspach (152nd, 20:19.3) also compete for OTC.
For Pelican Rapids, David Johnston (17:00.5) finished in 25th. Logan Petznick (159th, 20:39.2), Julian Diaz (168th, 20:52.2), Sam Moe (169th, 20:52.6) and Brady Petznick (170th, 21:00.4) counted toward the Vikings team score, while Oakley Carlson (171st, 21:01.7) also competed.
