BATTLE LAKE — The Hillcrest volleyball team may have picked up a first set victory, but the hosting Battle Lake Battlers would claim the match, winning in four sets 20-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 Thursday.

“We had a fun night of volleyball despite a ton of unforced errors on both sides of the net,” Comets head coach Debi Foss said. “This week has been a busy homecoming week for the girls and it felt good to take the first set. We struggled in the second set with more unforced errors but then we found our stride again and played better in the third and fourth sets. What we sometimes lacked in experience, we made up for in team enthusiasm and encouragement to one another.”

Amanda Dekok and Hope Adams each recorded seven kills for the Comets, while Mackenzie Foss had 26 digs in the game.

The Comets will travel to take on the Underwood Rockets at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, while the Battlers will travel to New York Mills at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
