STRONG FINISH: Otter Tail Central Bulldogs sprinter Nick VanErp wins his prelim heat Thursday at Kennedy Secondary School.

The Otter Tail Central boys and girls track and field teams qualified three individuals and three relay teams for the Class A state meet at the Section 6A meet held Thursday at Kennedy Secondary School track.

Nick VanErp qualified for two events for the Bulldogs as he won the long jump with a leap of 21-feet-9.5-inches, while finishing as runner-up in the 200 meter dash (22.64).

The boys also qualified the 4×800 relay team of Thomas Himmelspach, Eli Carlson, Brady Scholten and Brennan Amundson as they placed second in the event with a time of 8:14.82.

For the girls, Jorja Gabrielson and Grace VanErp qualified as individuals. Gabrielson took second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.57, while Grace VanErp took second in the triple jump (36-04.25).

The 4×200 relay team of Erika Heibel, Brooke Hovland, Kylie Frederick and Grace VanErp (1:48.25) and the  4×400 relay team of Hovland, Gabrielson, Grace VanErp and Frederick as each won their race.

The group of Bulldog athletes will now travel to the Class A state meet on Friday, June 7 at Hamline University in St. Paul.
