In back-to-back games Monday and Tuesday, the Pelican Rapids volleyball team picked up two victories defeating Battle Lake and Staples-Motley.

In Monday’s match, the Vikings downed the Battle Lake Battlers in four sets (21-25, 26-24, 25-23, 26-24).

Anna Stephenson and Greta Tollefson led the Vikings in kills with 13 apiece, while Riley Berg (27), Ryley Paulson (18), Allie Haiby (12), Stephenson (12) and Tollefson (10) each were in double figures in digs.

Tuesday’s match saw the Vikings sweep past Staples-Motley (25-13, 25-17, 25-23).

“I was really proud of how these girls pushed through tonight and played with more confidence,” Vikings head coach Heidi Isaman said. “We were more aggressive at crunch time and we ending the game swinging and wanting to finish.”

Tollefson led Pelican Rapids with 11 kills, while Paulson (20), Berg (15) and Stephenson (12) led the team in digs.

The Vikings will host Barnesville for the team’s elementary autograph night at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
