PERHAM — With a six-run first inning, the hosting Perham Yellowjackets took control of a Section 8AA playoff game with the Otter Tail Central baseball team on the way to a 10-3 victory.
The Bulldogs struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Perham as the Yellowjackets totaled 13 hits in the game. The Bulldogs did not help themselves on defense as they committed 7 errors.
Drake Larsen took the loss for OTC as he pitched an innings, struck out one and gave up six runs. Daxton Olson and Cole Brandner would come in relief to finish the game.
Larsen, Andrew Weniger, Nate Stavaas and Dylan Trana all had a hit for the Bulldogs.
“There is a lot of work put in behind the scenes and none of it goes unnoticed,” OTC head coach Ryan Hendrickson said. “Our athletic directors from all three schools, AD secretaries, travel directors and principals all communicate very well in order to keep up with a never-ending amount of changes to an already packed schedule. Our Coaching staff from 9-year-old travel ball, up to 11U, our junior high coaches, junior varsity coach, who put in a countless number of hours checking on rosters, schedules, practice prepping, and many other behind the scene things like ordering equipment, mentoring, practicing, riding bus to games, and having fun with the kids. Mrs. Clauson helped out tremendously in the dugout keeping track of pitch counts and keeping our stats. Our families and players, who have been tremendous. Eleven seniors who have put a lot of hard work and dedication to their schools and our programs. They have meant a great deal to us, and I want to wish them the best in their futures, thank you the most. And thank you to my very beautiful and understanding wife who supports and pushes me to do my very best.”
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 5-15 record.
