UNDERWOOD — The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team forced 30 turnovers on the way to a 77-45 Little Eight Conference victory over the hosting Underwood Rockets Friday.

The Battlers forced 19 first-half turnovers and used it to build a 42-17 lead before the break. The Rockets continued to fight but could only get to within 20 in the second half.

“We were unable to keep up with the pace that Battle Lake put out there tonight,” Rockets head coach Evan Meece said. “We knew they were going to bring pressure and we did not make the adjustments that we needed to, to take care of that pressure.  We’ll go back to the drawing board to come up with a game plan to take care of the ball better moving forward.”

The Battlers were led in scoring by Owen Buehler with 23 points, while teammates Brady VanErp (15) and Noah Mansker (12) were also in double figures.

The Rockets were led by Krosby Aasness with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rockets will entertain another LEC foe in Rothsay at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. The Battlers will return home to take on LEC rival Hillcrest at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
