A strong offensive night from the Hillcrest girls’ basketball team saw the hosting Comets cruise to a 72-38 victory over the visiting Ortonville Trojans Friday.
“This was a great team win for us,” Comets head coach Hannah Clark said. “As a team we didn't shoot the ball all that well, but our defensive pressure really got us going early in the game and we were able to get some easy buckets. We did a great job getting the 50/50 balls tonight. I loved seeing the girls dive on the floor and I thought they showed a lot of heart and hustle.”
Mackenzie Foss led the Comets in scoring with 19 points, while teammates Madi Foss (17) and Madi Ballweg (10) were also in double figures. Regan Wiertzema led Hillcrest on the glass with 13 rebounds.
The Comets will continue their recent homestand as they welcome in Wheaton at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
