Fahje beats the buzzer to send Pelican to the quarterfinals

Pelican trailed by four at halftime (37-33).

“It was a fantastic opening round playoff game and an electric atmosphere in Red Lake,” said Vikings coach John Gullingsrud. “The game went back and forth throughout with both teams exchanging leads in the second half. Fahje hit a shot to tie it with eight seconds to go, but Red Lake responded with the go ahead bucket with 2.1 seconds left. Fahje once again stepped up and hit the game winner with a three at the buzzer to send us to the next round. We are so proud of our group for never giving up and fighting until the end tonight.”

Charlie Larson led Pelican with 17 points. Fahje and Hunter Williams contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Ken Fox a game high 35 points for Red Lake.

Pelican, now at 14-13, will take on the No.1 seed in the section, Thief River Falls.
