ON course: Members of the Fergus Falls boys’ cross country team run with the pack during Thursday’s Section 8AA meet in Cold Spring.

COLD SPRING — The Fergus Falls cross country teams competed at the Section 8AA meet in Cold Spring Thursday.

The Fergus Falls girls’ team would finish 11th overall with a 299 score, while Alexandria (42), Willmar (49) and Rocori (56) went one-two-three.

“Our Otter girls ran excellent races on a beautiful fall day for sections,” Otter girls’ head coach Niki Welde said. “Emily Nuss (22nd, 19:54.2) led the team with an excellent sub-20-minute race.  Karolyn Papon (57th, 21:23.0) again had a strong race running second for the Otters and Sierra Hatlewick (69th, 22:14.1) posted a season-best time in her final race of the season. Ainsley Hansen (72nd, 22:16.5) and Ellia Soydara (79th, 22:31.5) were next running right with the teams we needed them to. Rebecca Schindler (84th, 22:49.3) posted a season-best time followed by captain Makena Stenstrom (100th, 24:10.5) rounding out the Otter section team.

“The Otter boys put it all on the course. Each one of these guys had their best effort against the toughest competition they have had all season. I am proud of how the boys competed.”

The Otters finish in 16th, while Willmar (50), Bemidji (57) and Alexandria (97) took the top three spots.

Joe Eberle (18:18.1) led the Otters with a 68th-place finish, while teammate Luke Schroeder (18:30.9) finished in 76th. Rounding out the team scoring for Fergus Falls were Conrad Lobb (90th, 19:02.9), Kolsen Papon (98th, 19:22.4) and Aiden Lindgren (106th, 20:32.7), while Mason Olson (107th, 20:25.4) and Zach Lobb (108th, 20:28.5) also competed at the meet.
