DETROIT LAKES — The Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team picked up an opening season victory as the Otters shut out the Detroit Lakes Lakers 2-0 Saturday.

The Otters would grab the lead in the first period as Isaac Johnson scored on a Noah Tarczon pass. Fergus Falls would add a second goal in the second period as Sterling Andrews lit the lamp with assists from Isaac Young and Mike DeBrito.

Neither team did much offensively in the final period.

Fergus Falls goalie Ian Stumbo recorded the shutout as he turned away 17 shots on net. The Otters had 22 shots on goal.

The Otters will continue their road trip as they travel to take on St. Cloud Cathedral at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
