Fergus Falls girls’ basketball player Sabrina Fronning uses her trademark defense to frustrate Alexandria’s Mataya Hoelscher during Friday’s home game.  

The Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team held rival Alexandria at arms length the entire evening as the Otters picked up a 57-39 win.

The two teams battled back and forth in the first half, but the Otters would go into the break with a 23-16 lead. In the second half, Fergus Falls built a 20-point lead midway through. The Cardinals would never get their offense going as he home team celebrated the win. 

Ellie Colbeck led the Otters in scoring with 17 points. Colbeck returned from an injury and scored her points coming off the bench. Teammate Sabrinia Fronning chipped in 14 tallies in the win.

The Otters JV team also picked up a a 47-45 victory. Katie Strommen led the team with 15 points. The Fergsu Falls C team completed the sweep with a 31-29 win. Centreya Lockett dropped in 17 in the victory.

The Otters will now travel to take on the Detroit Lakes Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
