Facing off against stiff competition on Thursday in Willmar, the Fergus Falls wrestlers found themselves on the losing end of a pair of duals versus Central Lakes Conference opponents. In their first dual, they were outdone by the Rocori Spartans via a score of 65-18. The Otters 18 points all came from 3 forfeit wins. “We put a young team on the mat tonight due to injury and illness”, stated head coach Adam Schlepp, “we wrestled like a young team tonight. We will continue to improve, and hopefully, get back to a full lineup soon.”

Then facing off against the Willmar Cardinals, the seventh ranked team in Class AAA, the host Cardinals ran away with 76-3. Caleb Fronning, at the 113 weight class, picked up the lone win via a 6-4 decision versus Eli Heinen. Otter wrestling will be back in action this upcoming Thursday in a triangular with Brainerd hosting withSt. Cloud Tech is also competing. Saturday will mark the 2022 Mike Makovsky Memorial Youth Tournament in Fergus Falls.
