The M State men’s basketball team kicked off its MCAC Southern Division schedule at home against Anoka-Ramsey Community College Wednesday. The visiting Golden Rams would run away with the game in the second half as they defeated the Spartans 84-64.
The Golden Rams would take the lead into the locker room after the first half, but come out firing in the second as they created distance from the Spartans on the way to a 20-point win.
Alend Alemadi led the Spartans in scoring with 18 points, while teammate Alex Hendricks dropped in 12 points. Renell Edwards grabbed 10 rebounds for M State in the game.
The Spartans struggled from the field as they made 21-of-54 shots for nearly 39%. The Golden Rams would hit 48% of their shots going 25-for-52.
The battle for the boards was relatively equal as Anoka-Ramsey held a slim edge 42-39.
The Spartans will look to recover as they host Western Technical College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
