EAST GRAND FORKS — The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team traveled to East Grand Forks Thursday but the Green Wave were too strong for Otters as they were defeated 4-1.

In the first half of action the Otters jumped on the scoreboard first as Piper Andrews put one in the back of the net by making a run that beat her Green Wave opponent. East Grand Forks would even it up 1-1 on a breakaway through ball before taking the lead 2-1 on an Otters misplaced ball that passed through the box and into the goal.

East Grand Forks scored their third goal of the game on a 30-yard shot before ending all scoring  off a corner kick and scrum in the Otters’ box for the 4-1 final.

“Our girls played hard tonight,” said Otters head coach Ben Jurgens. “We played three-quarters of the night 10 vs. 11 but our girls never flinched and kept playing hard. EGF had a great program, well coached and a lot of talent. They are fast and move the ball really well.”

The Otters will take to the pitch again Tuesday at Otters Stadium as they host St. Cloud Apollo at 7 p.m.
