Getting position: Hillcrest girls’ basketball player Molly McGuire undercuts Henning’s Autumn Grasswick for position on a rebound during Thursday’s game.

The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team played host to the Henning Hornets Thursday. The Hornets were not cordial visitor as they handed the Comets a 49-34 loss.

“We played great defense, but then would give up an offensive rebound and Henning did a great job converting rebounds into points,” Comets head coach Hannah Clark said.

Olivia Foss led the Comets in scoring with eight points and had five blocks.

The Hornets saw Abi Eckhoff lead the team with 11 points.

The Comets will take on Little Eight Conference foe Rothsay at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
