Two minutes later, the Cardinals tied it off a free kick from 35 yards out resulting in a scramble in front of the Comets net that the defense unable to clear. Joshua Kietzmann would put Alexandria ahead 2-1 with a goal two minutes later, but Hillcrest responded at the 14-minute mark as Breck scored off a beautiful feed from Kristian Maestad, sending the teams into halftime tied.
The Cards came out in the second half blazing and caught the Comets on their heels, scoring four goals. Jowell Seymour would add one for the Comets late in the game at 72 minutes, off with an assist from Breck.
“The cold wind and rain took its toll on the small Comet squad,” Comets head coach Rod Jensen said. “The team that gets the most shots on goal wins a contest in conditions like this… Alex played a great game!”
