BRANDON — The hosting Brandon-Evansville football team got out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the Hillcrest Comets 46-8.
“BE raced out to a 32-0 lead in the first quarter on the strength of a good run game and a couple of botched punts on our side,” Comets head coach Derrick Clark said. “We scored our lone touchdown of the game in the second quarter when Kaleb Swenson hit Zeke Irhke for a touchdown pass. BE was up 38-8 at half and added one more score in the second half to make the final score 46-8.
Swenson filled in at quarterback for Hillcrest as the team’s top two signal-callers are out with injury.
“I thought Kaleb did a great job running our offense for only having a few days to prepare,” Clark said.
The Comets will now turn their attention to Sebeka as they welcome in Trojans for a 7 p.m. showdown Friday, Sept. 27.
