PELICAN RAPIDS — The Hillcrest and Pelican Rapids boys’ soccer teams battled to a 2-2 tie Tuesday.

The Pelican Rapids Vikings jumped out to an early lead as they scored three minutes into the contest. At the 15-minute mark, the Hillcrest Comets responded as Vetle Myntevik responded with a bulleted-kick from 40 yards out, tying the score. The Comets would take the lead before the break as Kristian Maestad flipped the ball over the top of the Vikings goalie to go into half up 2-1.

In the second half, the Vikings would tie the score at 68 minutes. Neither team would score the remainder of regulation or in overtime.

“The Comets played hard today,” Comets head coach Rod Jensen said. “The heat really took its toll on our small squad, especially the Norskies! Pelican Rapids is a good team with many skilled players. I am proud of our efforts today and the game results.”

The Comets move to 3-2-1 on the season and will host Little Falls at 11 a.m. Saturday.
