EAST GRAND FORKS — The Hillcrest boys’ soccer battled both the hosting East Grand Forks Green Wave and the wet, windy weather Saturday. In the end, the Green Wave would come out victorious 3-0.

After a scoreless first half, the Green Wave scored at the 55-minute mark to take the lead, and added two more later in the game for the win.

“We were missing several starters today, so it was a great opportunity for some of the younger players to see a lot of varsity action,” Comets head coach Rod Jensen said. “Brandon Babineau, Gabe Swedenburg, Ben Swelstad, Cole Peterson, Luc Senga and Juin Moon, all stepped up today and did a good job against our opponents, under tough conditions.”

The Comets will now host the Fergus Falls Otters in the first round of the Section 8AA playoffs at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
