The Hillcrest Comets volleyball team competed at the Hancock Tournament Saturday. The Comets went 0-3 falling to Hancock (25-21, 25-20), Lac qui Parle Valley (25-21, 25-21) and Yellow Medicine East (25-14, 25-23).
“I felt like we played competitive in each of the matches despite the ‘stifling’ temperatures in the gym,” Comets head coach Debi Foss said. “Most of the matches had tight scoring with the exception of one set during the last match of the day against Yellow Medicine East. Even though we struggled in a few rotations, our young team continues to work through those times and keep learning the game. We head into a busy week with three games.”
Mackenzie Foss had a strong tournament for the Comets as she recorded 11 kills and 25 digs. Teammates Olivia Stanton (17), Madie Foss (12) and Audra Ewan (12) were also in double figures in digs, while Kate Peterson recorded 13 service points.
The Comets will now travel to take on Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
