Chopsticks: Fergus Falls girls’ hockey player Piper Andrews keeps the puck away from St. Cloud during Tuesday’s home game. The Otters fell to the Icebreakers 6-0.

The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team could not get its offense going Tuesday as the visiting St. Cloud Icebreakers claimed a 6-0 victory.

The Icebreakers opened the game with a goal at 6:41 as Taylor Mathiasen lit the lamp. St. Cloud would add another goal nearly 10 minutes later off the stick of Gabbie Rud to take a 2-0 lead.

In the second period, St. Cloud would add three additional goals. Mathiasen would record her second at 6:38, while Katherine Bell and Taylor Holm each notched a goal late in the period.

In the final stanza, the Otters slowed down the Icebreaker, but not before Mathiasen recorded a hat trick with a goal at 8:51.

The Icebreakers topped the Otters in power-play opportunities 4-3, but neither team would score on the advantage.

St. Cloud outshot the Otters 28-21 in the game.

The Otters will look to get back on track as they host Hutchinson 1 p.m. Saturday.
