ASHBY — The West Central Area boys’ basketball team used a balanced attack to overtake the hosting Ashby Arrows 86-51 Tuesday.

“I’ve already stated coming into the season that we have eight players that can score in double figures on any given night,” Knights head coach Kraig Hunter said. “It was fun to watch unselfish basketball with so many guys contributing.”

Grant Beuckens led the Knights in scoring with 19 points. Jack VanKempen (16), Tate Christenson (15) and Blake Koloski (15) were also in double figures in scoring. VanKempen also finished the evening with a double-double grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Arrows were led in scoring by Hunter Norby with 15 points, while teammate Jacob Cook chipped in 12.

The Knights hit 33-of-71 shots for 46% and hit 11-of-28 3’s.  The Knights also made their free throws making 9-of-11.  Ashby made 18-of-48 shots for 38% and hit 5-of-23 3’s.  They shot 10-of-18 from the free throw line.

The Knights will welcome in the Battle Lake Battlers for their home opener at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Arrows will look to get in the win column as they travel to take on Little Eight Conference foe Hillcrest at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
